A few months back I discovered SketchUp. My life in the shop will never be the same. This free tool is excellent for getting your ideas from your head to a working model you can make cuts and plans from. I don’t know how I survived as long as I did without it.

In fact, SketchUp has become so indispensable for my own personal use, that I’m planning on publishing all the projects and plans for this site as SketchUp models. I strongly suggest downloading and giving this application a try. It’s worth it. As a backup, we’ll also publish renderings from SketchUp as measured drawings for all our projects.
